Matthew 14:30 “But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” The world, really, is a scary place – natural disasters, disease, terrorism, and a hundred other things. But where do we place our hope, our trust – our vision? Where do we look for aid and comfort? When Peter’s eyes were on the Lord, he had confidence. When he turned to look at his problems and took his eyes off the Lord, he fell apart. Sometimes God’s call to support the work of His Church with our offerings makes us nervous. But put your eyes back on your Lord, trust Him, follow His Word, and all, really, will be well.
PARISH PLANNING COUNCIL will meet this Wednesday, August 15th at 6:00 pm.
VBS! A one-night VBS will be held Thursday evening, August 17 from 6:00 – 7:30 PM. Registration will begin at 5:30. There will be classes from 3 years old through 12th Grade and an Adult Bible Study as well. You can pre-register through the church office. Please prayerfully consider enrolling your children for this special VBS program. Please see Alexandra Tucci if you are interested in volunteering for any of the activities/classes planned.
RECOGNITION OF SERVICE – A special part of our worship service on August 27th will be a time to recognize all those who have given of their time and talents in support of boards or special programs here at Concordia. There is a sign-up sheet in the Narthex for you to put your name or the name of a Servant that you know, as well as the number of years of service. We would like to include as many people as possible in this special time of recognition.
NEIGHBORS, INC. COOKING CLUB We are heading into our last Cooking Club class. It has been a resounding success! This week the class will be learning dessert recipes and with my sweet tooth, I hope they have leftovers. The class has helped teach residents of our community how to prepare meals using items they receive from the food shelf. The class was taught by volunteers of Neighbors, Inc. We were happy to provide the kitchen space they needed to instruct these classes. With this being their last class, it would be wonderful if we could fill up our donation barrel and show our support for Neighbors, Inc. and the very important service they provide to our community. LET’S KEEP THE BARREL FULL!
A VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU TO
Alexandra Tucci and Sue Ogorek for all their hard work in planning the Night to Unite event held here at Concordia on August 1.
The many volunteers who helped with the food, crafts, children’s games and set-up and tear down for the event that was attended by close to 100 people
The Concordia Praise band for providing music for the evening!
It was a special evening of outreach, fellowship and fun for the community!
