Concordia scholarships

Announcement:

Each Spring, through the generosity of members and other supporters, a number of scholarships are being made available to members of Concordia who will be attending post-secondary education institutions this fall. The amount of the scholarship will be dependent upon the number of qualified applicants and the funds available for each scholarship. Interested students are urged to apply for scholarships for the school year beginning next fall. Decisions on scholarship recipients will be made in the Spring.

Award details:

  • Only applicants who have been members in good standing at Concordia Lutheran Church for a minimum of one year and who attend Christian worship services on a regular basis are eligible.
  • Students must attend an accredited post-secondary undergraduate or graduate institution in a  degree, license or certificate program. After the first year in school, applicants for funding for subsequent years must remain in good standing and be making progress towards a degree according to the standards of the institution.
  • Requirements vary for each scholarship; see individual scholarship guidelines below for details.
  • Scholarships will be made payable to the institution and must be applied to tuition and/or books.

Criteria and weighting:

All qualified applicants will be eligible for a portion of the scholarship pool, with the actual amount based on the weighting factors identified here. These factors are set by the scholarship's originator and administered by Concordia in accordance with their wishes.  Among the factors that may be considered:

  1. School affiliation
  2. College major
  3. Church activity level
  4. Part-time, full-time or graduate level

For specific details on the criteria and weighting process, please contact Renette Stinson.
